#27

Hello hello !

It's got all rainy and cold in Finland, but still no snow. I somehow wish that the snow would come but on the other hand, no. Is it just me or does it actually feel warmer when the temperature is the same with snow than without it?

Today I went for this tour in the Aalto-arts university, meant for the peeps doing their final year in high school. I must say that it was really interesting to get a brief glimpse into the art fields they offer.;)
I also got home unusually early today (4pm!!) and that shall explain the pictures below - i actually had time for them! Not that I wouldn't need to do something more productive but.. procrastination.

If you haven't tried coffee mixed to hot chocolate yet, you must. 2/3 of hot chocolate, and 1/3 of coffee (Y). yes.

5th of November

My thoughts for the few days may forever lay under interpretations, but these are pictures that were taken two nights ago. I hope autumn isn't treating anyone badly, surprisingly I'm quite enjoying it:o
The pictures that can be seen below are taken due to explainable fog, which the beauty of it along with the city lights, could not even fully be captured with a camera. I hope you enjoy them though:) and the new layout of my blog!!! YEe.

Happy autumn everyone <3

Passion

Hi hi hello!

In my last post, I slightly told you something I've been working on. As I posted, I decided to try out oil paints and so this is a post of the process:)

When I started off with this, I thought I wanted to keep the simplicity of a human face, express it as briefly as possible. I thought I'd keep this in mind for possible next project(s) but now go a little crazier with experimenting with the oil paints. I also did not want to now create anything as bare as this would have been.

I went on to defining the edges of the details. This phase reminds me somehow of a woman being one with the nature...Like, I could imagine this face appearing at the side of a tree or something... ahh the surrealism.

The "Mature" look of the figure dissapeared at this phase, when I drew the edges and "separated" the figure from the canvas. It was like the figure was given identity, in a strange way.

At this point the shading process started, and it's a shame the process photos that I took were extremely bad quality due to the dirty camera lens I had in my phone and oddly did not notice until it was too late (drum roll.)

The shading of the figure at this point is starting to be pretty clear. I spontaneously decided to ''blend'' the face to the background. It may seem planned since I left gaps at the sketching part to those areas, but trust me, it was unintentional. See the background, and how the colors slide smoothly? It's the oil paints:)

Here's an almost finished version of the painting, which I then left drying for about two weeks so I could get rid of the blacks in unwanted areas!!! You can't see it properly in the photo, but the black shading took way too much attention from all the other areas so I had to do something about it..

When passion meets a substance, oil on canvas

The final version..! Yee! I finished it today and the feelings are indeed joyful.
Many surrealist painters have no idea what they are actually doing while in the process, which really opens up doors for the unconscious processes to be captured.

This painting may be seen very differently for different people.  I named it "When passion meets a substance", because while I was making this painting, I felt like if the abstract word "passion" was to be given an identity by looks, this is how I would see it. What is the exact definition for passion? This is what Urban Dictionary gave me:

Passion is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind body and soul into something as is possible.

In my opinion, that pretty much covers it.

The colors of the face being connected to the background, can be seen as the figure being dissolved/faded to the background, or it being formed from the colors of the background. It's very much open to interpretation, but to me it seems like passion is formed from the substance and has found it's identity, and continues dwelling in it's original form fading in and out, like passion would have been given a personification. The non expressive face and simplistic, almost cubistic features of the figure distances the viewer from him. That makes me think if the presenter in the picture even himself believes in the ''product he sells''. Or if passion is overrated? Ah just speculating.

Then jumping to a completely different thing - I drew my mom. In this picture the image is not completed because I started drawing on top of it with a pen that smudges when water is added - like a water color pen, sort of, and so there was too much water in a certain area when I added more color from the pen and ta-daa it got too dark, and while trying to fix it the paper ripped and lala-di-daa - ruined. :)

We shall conclude this blog post at these thoughts...

Peace !

The wondrous week of tests

Hi hi hello fellow marshmellow!

oh the poet that has been let wild out from the inner self of mine.

So what I've pretty much been doing during the last couple of days, will generally be presented to you by these awesome photos taken by the contribution of GalaxyAce+ and iPhone (Petra's, not mine, if you know what I mean;)) -- and you won't know what I mean unless you're Yunus.

So ahh it's the test week, and as I was reading my old posts in this blog, I came across the amazing tips I've given out on studying... it was a great reminder, and a great way to make me feel even worse of all the studying I've been delaying... I invited Petra to come over and study together..we did - at least a little.

So the picture show may start with an interesting photo of a psychology book!! WHEEAY!

View from my window-....yeee. awesome stuff bro.

Okay okay here we get to a more exciting part..So Petra, as she was travelling to our place, sent me whatsapp update pictures, to let me know exactly where she was .

1. On the train, being disturbed by the fellow travelers. You may ask her about that I shall not explain.
2. "Täällä mä oon!!!"

3. highly appreciated flowers from my neighborhood. (Which I btw saw her take, all alone , nose in the bushes. pretty sad i must say) !

4. ...
5. And the stranger laughing at her
So Vilhelmiina, if you all were supposed to study, what did you actually do!?!??!

....

Aaand when she was and wasn't around... what I've been doing:

<3

Great news!!! I've owned oil colors for a while now, but a few days ago I decided to actually start painting with them - for the first time in my life ! Exciting I say ! Pictures of the outcome may be revealed once the piece is finished... One of the only works I could actually leave undone and continue later...And that's only because I need the color to dry (which takes about 1 week to 2 months depending on the thickness of the paint... in my case about a week, to two weeks)

I loved it! It's so much different than acrylic paints that I'm used to using..They blend together much better and are just so much smoother than acrylics..!

That's that :) Peace!

Night Painting

Hi hi!

It's 1:30 am and I was wondering whether I should or should not write this blog post, but then again since I'm up anyway, why not?

I came home at around 9:30 this evening and decided to finish an artwork that I started during the summer in Sri Lanka, brought it to Finland, and had left it very very unfinished. As you can see the stage of what I continued with, please do take into consideration that I didn't have many paint brushes available in Sri Lanka and most of the painting happened with my fingers...(oh oh, which is also the reason I mixed some oil pastels on top of the paints...an experiment I had..)

Yea I was not happy with this...which probably is the reason why I dumped it for a while.
Now when I decided to continue it today.. I ended up starting all over:

Even though the bottom paint was wet I sketched the outlines with black paint. I used acrylics, by the way:)

When the outlines are done, it's time to add some detail!

The pinkie got an operation done.

Aaand this is what I ended up with:

I am going to challenge you!!! If you like painting, drawing, editing...any form of art, and you have an unfinished work at the back of your head. During the starting week, get it done!:) It feels goood! :)

Peace peace peace and goodnight everyone.

The girls' solu!

The only thing I can really say about this group.. amazing. I love these girls and also the few that are missing from this picture! These people have got so much heart and energy, and you can only be inspired by them.

Sorry Keshia, you may be only pleased that I didn't put the picture of you here:) <3 Hence I drew you:

And again sorry for making you look like a constipated professor.

Prince sure was happy when the house was full of girls;)

My future car.

That's that for today, unfortunately I don't have the awesome pictures of our amazing food but oh well, the night was good! thank you all <3

peace and goodnight.!
