The three mediums

It's been a crazy time.
Not only because I've been packed with work, but somehow all the crappy crap everyone goes through has left it's mark but not necessarily (only) a bad mark.. Somehow it just feels like the more I concentrate on my attitudes towards those things I need to overcome, the more easier it gets. I am officially becoming more and more convinced, that my life isn't in my hands, and I'm so glad it's not.
I've re-discovered a band that I used to listen to all the time, mainly in Sri Lanka. check out Family Force 5;)

I've been doing some large-ish drawing again! Which I thought I would share the process of, with you all.
The inspiration honestly came from my friend's WhatsApp image, which I saw completely wrong from the little image from the corner, which is actually something very very different when you see it full screen. I sketched the picture as I first saw it out on monday night, continued for a bit on tuesday night, and finished it last night. In total it took me roughly 3 hours? It's the size of 104x72cm and made with three mediums: Soft pastels, charcoal and pencil. I quite enjoyed the combination of the three mediums, I think I might do something more with them very soon;)

I sketched the outline of the face out with a pencil. This is the stage I left it off on monday night.

Pencil lines started to form details to the hair. At this stage I had no idea that I would end up using other mediums than pencil as well. It was highly an experiment.

Mindful of it all

A few days ago I got inspired to try out a relatively big-sized work using pencils only..I'm no pencil drawer, at least I haven't been till only a short while back. I've been doing some pencil works lately, but drawing with markers and painting has more been my thing.. so even though I've been using pencils in a small scale for a couple of months now, this was highly an experiment..I started this work off with no specific intentions. When the work was pretty far already, I realized that it sort of started looking like a head ! This was after I already was completed with the eye which I started from, the nose and the hand and even the ''neck''. Anyway, without any longer jibberish wobbling about the work, you may move on to see the stages of the work below:

Walking on Juho's hair

It's been an eventful day, which I'm quite happy about to keep myself busy:) The day started off with the fetch for my driving license (I've been driving with that temporary 1 month piece of paper and today went to get the two year one). Yee let's all have a moment of excitement.

My brother asked me to cut his hair also, after seeing what I did to his wife :D I was pleasantly surprised event though his hair would be way harder than that sri lankan hair, which would forgive many possible mistakes that cannot be seen from the thick and curly hair. Anyway, challenge accepted.

Let's hear a joke Juho cracked while I was cutting his hair:

"Ha-ha, you're walking on my hair!
That should be a status update! People would be like 'whaa' because they don't know you're stepping on the hair that's dropped on the floor!"
...
..
.

Anyway.

With a company of Fenix-drink, some candy and a cucumber, I shall get on with the TOK essay (oh yea, all the IB fellows out there reading this, sigh.)

Peace out:)

Little thoughts big thoughts

Not everything always need to make sense to us.
All is not in our control.
We would like to have that control,
but due to the circumstances and people we've grown in and with,
actually only a little we can rule over.
It's something someone would call destiny, some guidance?
Whatever there is to face,
some people say it's a curse,
some a chance to grow.
It comes down to attitude,
previous experiences,
the good ones and the bad ones.
No life of a human is a walk on roses,
not even the paths that seem to only end up at the clear waters
and being surrounded by angels.
Whatever there is to come,
whatever there has been,
a belief of not being alone has never left the corners of my heart.
These corners needed discovering over and over again,
but still have remained in place.
A smile is a mask many choose to put on to hide behind,
a smile of sorrow and pain.
An aim to have a pure smile in all circumstances,
is the greatest blessing of all.
A smile for the awareness of not being alone,
a smile for understanding the bright side.
Understanding,
that whatever may come,
it all happens for a greater cause.

Keshia

Today's the last day of Keshia being in Finland.. Hence the extremely imaginative title for this post. No but seriously, this woman has inspired me so much throughout the time she's been in my life since 2010, but during these 1½ years in Finland I've seen so much inspiring things happening in her and around her. Thank you for everything:)<3
Soon my brother will be joining her in Sri Lanka, but I've been privileged to spend the whole of yesterday with her at home when the others were working! So what these two awesome ladies came up with after a small discussion while drinking our morning tea and coffee; we decided to make Keshia's long dream of a short hair true! Whoo. So I cut it (fdksafsa) with 0% experience, if some small adjustments in the department of haircutting aren't taken into consideration. These are some of the results that followed our photoshoot inspired by the new look:
