Motivation problems?

Holaa everyone!

I have not posted in a long time because I knew what I wanted to post next but I cannot publish it before a certain date *wriggle wriggle* you shall find out what it is a little later, because this is not the post I am talking about:) Instead, I thought of talking about an issue that's probably relevant for most of us students (and perhaps also working people..?), or at least students are the ones I am talking to, because they're the ones I can relate to! whee.

Yea I know what it feels like, when you get back home from school, you have a couple of essays to work on, a book to read that the teacher is pushing you to read. Oh also you're supposed to finish that freaking commentary on an art piece or newspaper article by tomorrow.. Then you decide to chat on facebook or watch TV only for a little while before getting onto work. That little while seems to magically change into three hours and oh gosh you also got to eat! then you realize you're way too tired to do anything and decide you'll go to sleep early. Instead, you might get caught up into reading a book (of course not the book you've told to read for school) or go back to playing games or chatting to friends or whatever. Soon, it's 11pm and one has still not done any work and is way too tired but can't be bothered to go to bed either. Sounds familiar? To me at least it does.

The problem with this is, everything just piles up. You've got to do it anyway, so why leave it till the last night  before the deadline?

"Oh but I really can't be bothered."
"Nobody else does it either."
"I am waiting for the great motivation!!!!!!!!" (<---that's me.)

REALITY CHECK. (Muahahha I feel like a mom) You only study for yourself. Your future is dependent on what you do now. If this does not motivate you, here comes my "Search for motivation and joy to study from here:" -list.

    • First of all, figure out if that music on the background is ACTUALLY helping you study. I know some people that really enjoy having hard rock playing while they study, but I also know people who sort of pretend that the music helps them - it's actually just a distraction. As for me, some music helps, some distracts.
Trrrr - dudu- tamtidam - didam trr (my attempt of a drum roll) The type of music that inspires me :

    • Second of all, have something to drink next to you. It's scientifically proven that water is the best drink in order for the brain to function well. It's also great when you need some time to think, you just drink some water and the time use just seems very convenient;) I personally prefer tea (green tea best healthwise but any tea is great!) or coffee (also depends what time of the day it is:;))

    • If you know that you work best in the night (like me), and that you'll have a long night working on an assignment, take a nap when you get home. This will be surprisingly helpful! If you don't mind working at any time of the day, get your work done when you get home and you'll have more free time in the night (or perhaps even get proper night sleep;))

    • Working in a messy room makes everything harder. And I don't mean space-wise. "Oh I've got enough room on my table to lay my books on, that's cool right." is not the way to go. You will be surprised (me too, everytime I do this!) how it's easier to work in a clean room! BUT . be careful to not use this as an excuse to not do your work... Trust me I know how easy it is to talk yourself over the work by doing something ''more important'' such as cleaning your room because you suddenly got inspired to do it.

    • Divide your workload into bits. Make a plan, and draw a little box at the end of every task, and when you have completed it, you may tick it! this is motivating as you little by little get to tick all the little boxes:)

    • Change your environment-  If you find it hard to study at home, go to a library or some other place. Even outside, now that we've got awesome and warm spring weather what'd be nicer than working outdoors:)

Here were some tips ! I have to listen to music to avoid other distractions, drink tea/coffee, have a clean room and divide my work to smaller portions if I by any chance want to get anything done at home. If these are not fulfilled, I must must must go somewhere else - usually the library, because as I get distracted easily, even if I do have access to the internet (which I usually have to because of my work), I'm simply too ashamed to for example go to Facebook. It's effective !  I hope this was any help, these are things that work for me I hope you got something out of it as well.

    Peace <3
